VSA Board member conditions
1.
To serve a 2-year term of office, which may be followed
by up to two more 2-year terms by mutual agreement, and in
accordance with the by-laws.
2.
To attend yearly board meetings as follows: the Winter meeting is usually
held in late February/early March, and usually in the Philadelphia area; the
Fall meeting is usually held in late October/early November, often in a locale
that coincides with a VSA program; and the Spring meeting is usually held in
mid-May to mid June, always in the locale of the VSA annual meeting. Attendance
at all three meetings is encouraged; attendance at two out of three is required
by the bylaws.
3.
To make a $100.00 minimum donation to the annual appeal.
4.
To serve actively on at least one and preferably two committees of The Society.
5.
To be a current member of The Society, and to promote membership in The
Society and attendance at its programs.
6.
To promote the purposes of The Society as stated in the bylaws.

Advisory Council Guidelines
Purpose: To serve as a
resource of distinguished expertise, scholarship, and/or influence in offering
advice and counsel to the officers and directors of the VSA. Also intended as a
vehicle for keeping valued former members involved with and informed about the
VSA’s activities.
Prerogatives: May use
the title as long as so authorized by the VSA Board. Invited to attend and
participate in all VSA Board meetings and related activities, but may not vote
in deliberations. Receive minutes of all Board meetings; attendance is entirely
optional.
Requirements: Nominees
should be distinguished in their position anchor field of expertise. Council
members must maintain a current national membership in the VSA, and their
membership on the Advisory Council will automatically lapse when their VSA
membership lapses.
Procedure: Nominations
to the Advisory Council members must be made by the Nominating Committee to the
Board and are voted upon by the Board. Any Board member or officer may recommend
candidates to the Nominating Committee.
Term: Appointments are
made for a term of four years and may be renewed. Renewals must be recommended
by the Nominating Committee to and approved by the Board. |
Emeritus Officers and Directors Guidelines
Purpose: To honor past
directors and officers who have rendered lengthy, loyal, distinguished, and
meritorious service to the VSA and to utilize their experience and knowledge as
a resource for the Society.
Prerogatives: May use
the title as long as so authorized by the VSA Board. Invited to attend and
participate in all VSA Board meetings and related activities, but may not vote
in deliberations. Receive minutes of all Board meetings; attendance is entirely
optional.
Requirements: Nominees
must have completed their service on the VSA Board for at least one year before
becoming eligible for appointment. Nominees should have served for at least six
years as an officer and/or Board member of the VSA. The emeritus designation may
normally be made for only one office. Emeritus members must maintain a current
national membership in the VSA, and the emeritus designation will automatically
lapse when their VSA membership lapses.
Procedure: Nominations
for emeritus status must be made by the Nominating Committee to the Board and
are voted upon by the Board. Any Board member or officer may recommend
candidates to the Nominating Committee
Term: Emeritus
designations are awarded for life. |
