July found the St. Louis chapter lunching at the Ferguson Brewing Company, one of the oldest restaurants in Ferguson, MO.  Following lunch, we toured the St. Louis Mercantile Library, which is located inside the Thomas Jefferson Library on the campus of the University of Missouri  St. Louis.  Established in 1846 by civic leaders & philanthropists, it exits today as a huge community & cultural asset.  It is the oldest library west of the Mississippi, & a wonderful place for research of St. Louis.

In September the chapter visited the Village of Maeystown, IL.  The town was founded by joseph Maeys in 1852.  The original settlers were German immigrants.  This quaint village is unique with it's many stone buildings & homes, all built in the 1800's.  The entire village was placed on the National register of historic places in 1978,  Lunch in their restaurant, a tour of their museum in the old Rock Mill, an organ recital in their beautiful stone church, & dessert in a real old ice cream shop, made for a day of stepping back in time.
